About RCS Bands:
At Resurrection Christian School we are proud to be able to offer the highest level of Christian education to all our students on a daily basis including opportunity for students to participate in numerous music ensembles. RCS offers 4 large ensembles, musical pit and HS pep band. Students in 6th grade choose either band or choir and participate in the Beginning Band. After 6th grade students are placed by skill level in the Concert Band or the upper level Symphonic Band. In high school, students have the opportunity to participate in the high school Symphonic Band which is 9-12 with a breakout upper level wind ensemble for upper level players. They participate chamber ensembles, musical pit and the RCS Cougar Pep Band in addition to their daily large ensemble if they are insterested. |

Mission Statement:
Teach, Inspire, Create...through Christ
Here at Resurrection Christian School we value the connection we all share through music and the ability for music to transcend all barriers of life. Music speaks to all of us and can break through language, ethnicity, background, and even literacy barriers to reach and connect with people on a deeper level. We are committed to building and growing life long learners in music. We understand that not all students will proceed to careers and further education in music after their time here at RCS but understand and acknowledge the skills and mental disciplines acquired through music apply to all career applications and life skills. Music is a way to serve our community, our soul, and our Lord. It instills confidence, work ethic, commitment, drive, passion, attention to detail, and fosters students who are boldly Christian, academically equipped and globally prepared.

Philosophy of Music Education:
Our philosophy in the performing arts department is focused upon the development of the well-rounded musician, and the ability that we have to shape and create life long learners in the field of music. Music is a language, and it speaks to all of us in different ways. The beauty of music and how we study it is the personal relationship that you can have, the inner beauty of what you create, and the ability to shape the individual intellectually, physically, emotionally, socially, psychologically, and spiritually. We are focused on a lifelong appreciation and acquisition of skills needed to perform, listen, love, and speak intelligently about music for years to come. Performing in a variety of situations and ensembles allows students to develop applicable traits to any career they may choose. It develops proper work habits, attention to detail, confidence, self-expression, and heightened communication skills. Musicians have long been linked with higher test scores, better academic achievement, greater involvement in social activities and natural leaders in our school and our community.

Spiritual Integration
Music has long been the center of worship services and religious experiences worldwide. Created, fostered, and developed in the church music allows everyone to connect and worship our Lord together. It is an important part of our curriculum at RCS that we pair and connect our lifelong love and appreciation of music with our eternal love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God is the center of all our classrooms and musical study and many opportunities are had for students to share their musical talents in chapel, worship bands, worship services, and other opportunities to love our Lord.
